August 9, 2010 - My favorite all time Wide Receiver from the ranks of Louisiana high schools was Eddie Kinnison of Washington Marion high school in Lake Charles. Eddie, to me, since watching and covering high school football in Louisiana since 1981, was the fastest kid I’ve ever seen play football in a uniform that was over 5-11 in height as a WR.
Eddie also played WR in high school, compared to other current NFL Louisiana players that played mostly QB in high school. Some of those were Early Doucet from St. Martinville High School and the New Orleans Saints, Michael Clayton from Christian Life High School and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Devery Henderson who played RB at Opelousas High School and now the New Orleans Saints.
My second favorite WR of all time is Jarvis Landry from Lutcher High School who is currently playing high school football for the 2010 season. Jarvis has so much of everything, and might end up the best I’ve ever seen if he has a great college career which I think he will.
I also enjoyed watching the following players: Talmon Gardner from McDonogh 35 who later played for Florida State and in the NFL; Roydell Williams from East St. John who played for Tulane and is currently in the NFL; Abram Booty from Evangel Christian and LSU; Rueban Randle from Bastrop and LSU; Kerry Watkins from East St. John and Georgia Tech; Jarrett Fobbs from Huntington and LSU; James Wright from Belle Chasse and LSU; Troy Edwards from Huntington High School and La Tech; Marty Booker from Jonesboro Hodge who played for ULM and is currently in the NFL; Reggie Wayne who played for John Ehret and Miami and is now with the Indianapolis Colts; Dicky Lyons, Jr. who played for Holy Cross and is currently still trying to land with a NFL team; and Ike Hilliard from Patterson High School who played for the Florida Gators who just retired from the NFL.
A lot of the players I mentioned are just as good as Eddie. They went on to do great things in the NFL and college, and some are still doing that. But, again, Eddie was my Favorite WR of all time from the Louisiana high school ranks of seeing a kid way back when in person.
