Here is some feedback from yesterday's poll on Favorite Louisiana High School Running Backs.  To take the poll, click here

Tommy from Baton Rouge

Vincent Alexander, Covington High School. Senior season was 1982 football.

Richard from Sulphur

I was on a 1969 LaGrange High team with three great Running backs. They were Randy Skelton, Don Soileau and Greg Foreman. All three signed with LSU, they were never heard from again... The best of the bunch was the fullback Greg Foreman. Foreman never got to LSU. He signed with the Atlanta Braves organization. He did it all. He played Linebacker, he blocked and you could not bring him down running the ball.

Tatum from Lafayette

1. My first pick was Kevin Faulk who I saw play in the Acadiana vs. Carencro his senior year.

2. My second picks were all in the same game. In an STM vs. Patterson game, I watched Javon Walker and Ike Hillard at Comeaux High School field. Ike was a senior and Javon was a sophomore receiver. Ike had total of 300+ total yards.

3. Third best was Maurice LeBlanc from Lafayette High School.

Murphy from Lake Charles

Dwight Collins played for Barbe in the 90's. He was approx. 6'0 ft, 220lbs and he was hearing impaired. He continued his college career at UCF, and was a powerful back.

Brandon from Lake Charles

My favorite HS running backs who played during my time are:

Alley Broussard-Acadiana 03'; Matt Forte'-Slidell 04'; MJ Rachel-Northshore 04'; Justin Vincent-Barbe 02'; Patrick Johnshon-West St. John 05'

The Best running backs in SWLA for the class of 2011:

  • Darius Edwards from LaGrange will probably be the biggest name in recruiting in the area; excellent basketball player as well; will be 60% of offense, and teammate Aaron Sam will be the other 40%
  • Landon Carmon from Elton is the most underrated back in the area, probably because of school's classification. However Al Woods went to Elton, he was all american, signed with lsu and drafted by saints in 4th round of 2010 draft.
  • Cedric Skinner from Oberlin was hurt during his sophomore year and had to share carries with 3 other players who were all seniors last year. He could lead the state in yardage this year.
  • CJ Carter from DeQuincy is a standout sophomore this year. Last year he only played like four games but he could wind up at small D1 School like ULL or Tulane.
  • Davondrick Phillips from Jennings is quick, and with mobile QB Bryson Abraham coming back, makes for a great option tandem. He's a sleeper.
  • Aaron Sam from LaGrange could be all stater but Darius Edwards is the 1st option. He reminds me of Jordan and Pippen. Supposedly could sign with D-1 school like Boise State or TCU.
  • Gary Suydam from Rosepine is not going to wow you with style points, but he gets the job done. He’s a north-south runner who punishes people. After this year, he will probably hold many school records.
  • Jarreth Rougeau from Barbe has been little fish in big pond at Barbe. RB Michael Guillory held the position for the last 2 years. Now it’s his turn. He has added bulk to take more punishment, and has made a name for himself at summer camps.
  • Dillon Berlin from St. Louis stepped into the role once starter was hurt last year. He’s a powerful runner. With the loss of all state receiver Kenny Brown to graduation, he should get more carries and impress scouts more.

Charles

Cecil Collins from Leesville and Lawrence Nixon of Jennings! Two of the best ever!

Jeremy

Trindon Holiday from Northeast and Charles Scott
