July 9, 2010 - One of the most exciting players in all of Louisiana last year was WR/Athlete,
Devin Boutte from
Catholic of New Iberia.
A lot of kids put up stats and some of it comes from a system, where a kid gets the ball many times in quick routes in a spread offense full of talent. This is not the case with this kid. Last year it was a two man operation. QB
Taylor Bullock, a signee to Tulane last year, to Devin Boutte with a small offensive line blocking. Devin would catch passes and turn into a RB right away and fight for yards and make great catches and use his moves to get away for long gains against very good teams.
He’s a little on the small side, but so are all the slot WR’s in the NFL. Devin is 5-9 and weighs a strong 175 pounds. Devin, runs the forty in 4.49, benches 295 pounds which is great for a skill small kid under 180 pounds, and squats 315. Devin, in 2009, caught 70 passes for 1,426 yards and 17 TD’s. This year he will have a new QB to work with, but it would not shock me that his stats will still be high and the TD’s will still be almost double digit again in 2010. Look for also some exciting punt returns and kick returns from Devin in 2010. Devin has a 3.3 GPA in the classroom, and likes these schools in order: Michigan, Texas, Alabama, Florida, and LSU. I would hate to see another Drew Dileo clone (Parkview Baptist and University of Michigan) leave the state in the end of this recruiting in season in 2010.
