Jared Foster
Jared Foster

July 6, 2010 - I had a chance to go to Barbe High School back in April of this year, and I met QB Jared Foster for the first time in person, after seeing this kid on film in several games last year.  In the last twenty years the best QB I saw play for Barbe High School that had the college look was a kid named Mike Miller, who stood 6-4 and weighed about 225 pounds. Mike ended up signing with Baylor and played TE for Baylor in Waco, Texas.

Jared Foster, to me, is the best QB for college I’ve seen come out of Barbe, and he’s better than Mike Miller in my opinion.  Jared has the ability to use his feet in the pocket really well to escape the rush, and can really sling the ball down field.  Foster is a smart kid who carries a 3.1 GPA and an ACT score of a 20 to his credit.

In 2009, Jared Foster threw for 1,123 yards and 11 TD’s.  Those are not big time stats, but the Barbe High School Offense is not one of a passing attack; it’s more run, and then pass, compared to Evangel Christian or some other high schools in state that use the spread.  I really believe Jared Foster’s stats (passing yards and TD’s) will probably double in 2010.  2009 was his first year to ever start at QB.

I don’t care about stats anyway when it comes to recruiting.  I look at a kid’s ability, and this kid has what it takes to be a really good QB in college.  Jared also excels in baseball, where he plays 2nd Base for one of the most powerful baseball programs in Louisiana. Foster hit 4 home runs his junior year in baseball.

I asked him if anybody offered and he told me McNeese State offered him to play football in the 2010 class.  I asked him his favorite colleges in order that haven’t offered and he told me Texas, LSU, Tennessee, Houston, and Louisiana Tech.  If McNeese State can sign this kid in 2010, they’re getting one heck of a QB for their program because he’s DI all the way in ability.
