| Lee with Port Allen Assistant Coach Chris Cummings |
Port Allen never has a ton of depth overall for the football team, but they do have a really talented core of athletes every year, and really good coaching lead by Head Coach Guy Blanchard and his staff. The stud athletes to watch this year, that will be seniors, are Athlete Dewayne Hebert (6-1, 190), RB/DB Devin Payne (5-10, 188), and LB/SS Marcus Parker (6-2, 185).
All three of these kids should sign somewhere when it’s said and done. From talking to anyone on the team, I know Marcus Parker loves the Florida Gators, and that’s his dream team. Florida hasn’t offered, but Louisiana Tech and Southeastern are his favorite schools in state. Devin Payne likes ULL, Tulane, Memphis, Tulsa, and Arkansas State, and Dewayne Hebert is wide open for colleges.

| Marcus Parker |
Marcus Parker has a very impressive resume with 115 tackles and 10 sacks in 2009 for his team, and an ACT score of 23 and GPA of 3.0. He also averages 15 points a game in basketball, runs a 50.74 in the 400 meter dash, and a 2.10 in the 200 meter dash. Port Allen won State in the 4x400 which is very impressive.
I would like to give thanks to Coach Chris Cummings and I enjoyed my time at Port Allen High School while talking to the players and taking pictures. We will have more in the preview issue that comes out in late July. You can order off the web site.
Notes: Chris Cummings ran a 10.17 in the 100 meters while at LSU, and Arkansas did not show much interest in him for track on his recruiting visit which is why he ended up at LSU.
DB Tracy Porter of the New Orleans Saints is a former Port Allen football player.
WR Damion Dixon transferred from Louisville last year, and will play a lot this year for McNeese State. Damion is still about 6-3, 190 in size from talking to coach.
CB Andre Hall (6-0, 185), who signed this year with Vanderbilt, has a chance to play or even start in the SEC as a true freshman. I think this was a big miss for LSU in recruiting. This kid reminds me a lot of Tracy Porter, who plays for the New Orleans Saints and played at Indiana University. Andre runs a true 4.41 forty and will get a shot at the NFL one day.
L.J. Parker signed with Tulane for this upcoming season, and he might see the field as either a CB or FS.
Former Port Allen Offensive Lineman John Edwards is currently Tulane’s Deep Snapper going into the 2010 season.
