Ezekiel Alsander

June 18, 2010 - I remember four years ago I would see a tall skinny kid in warm ups before a high school game at Mumford Stadium, home Stadium of the Southern Jaguars college football team and the Southern Lab Kittens.  This kid was 6-6 at the time as a freshman and weighed about 215 pounds and had long arms.  Now that same kid today is Ezekiel Alsander.  He’s still 6-6 in height and he weighs a lean 280 pounds.  Ezekiel has bulked up every year over four years and will enter the season as a three year starter.  The scary thing and upside for this kid is when you see him in street clothes, you would think he’s only about 250 pounds.  Alsander has a chance to be about 325 pounds and no fat when done, and might even get up to 330 pounds in college.

I had a chance to talk to him over the spring and he’s such an impressive quiet kid with a huge smile on his face at all times.  Think about this. Alsander benches 365 pounds, squats 515, and cleans 225 pounds.  Try and realize what he will bench and squat when he fills out to over 320. Try 55 pancake blocks in 2009, and he’s still raw in knowing the position, and he has really good feet off the snap.

Ezekiel has run the forty in 5.2, which is really good for a guy that’s 288 pounds.  He also carries a 3.0 GPA in the classroom.   Alsander fits the mold of Raw, when it comes to being a Div I player, because he’s still so lean and green with football. The upside is big time, because he’s a great kid to coach, and will become a huge player in college with no fat. I filmed the state of Louisiana last year and I don’t know a kid who will play OT in college with more upside than this kid for college.

Alsander listed his favorite colleges in this order: LSU, Oregon, Virginia, Florida, Alabama, USC and Ole Miss.
