June 16, 2010 - Capitol High School had one great season in 2009 with the arm of Terrance Broadway, and the incredible running of RB Frankie Jackson.  The 2010 season, to many, might seem like it’s a rebuilding year for the Capitol Lions, however, I say their reloading in 2010.  I will have to admit you don’t replace a Terrance Broadway.  Those type of Quarterbacks come around to one high school, sometimes once in a lifetime, but I feel like the Capitol team could be better overall. The team will be faster and stronger overall as a team.

I had a blast seeing Head Coach Chadwick Germany, who does a great job with these kids, and has put this program on the map in the state.  I was very impressed meeting the players and getting a chance to see the maturity of the team that’s coming back.  It’s easy to see kids on film and say he’s Div 1  prospect or he’s IAA, but when you see kids who are tough and mature in person and have a chance to talk to them, you see another great season coming up for the lions.

Corey White
Corey White

Corey White, who is 6-4 and a lean 310 pounds and is committed to LSU as an OT or OG, is the real deal. Corey is a great kid, who has the feet of a LB. Corey told me run blocking is his favorite part of football, Trindon Holliday is his top LSU player, and he did not start playing organized football till his 6th grade year in middle school. Alabama is his second most liked college.

SS/LB Frederick Wilson (6-0, 200) is chiseled in person and very lean for 200 pounds.  This kid has a 21 ACT, and runs a 4.5 forty all day long.  I like that he loves to hit, and I know that because I’ve watched this kid in person and filmed him since he was a freshman starting for Capitol. Wilson has a freak vertical of 41 inches! Wow!

The sleeper of the bunch is Nyle Johnson who comes over from University High School.  Nyle can run a legit 4.4 forty, and on a bad day he runs 4.6.  Nyle is 6-0 and weighs a lean 185 pounds and has 4.4 forty speed when you watch him in games.  Nyle to me is one of the top Athletes in Louisiana.  Nyle’s dad is Trumaine Johnson, who was a high school All American at Baker High School and All American at Grambling.  Trumaine played in the USFL as a first round pick, then many years in the NFL.

The team has two really good RB’s coming back, who are built very similar to Frankie Jackson from last year; they’re both in that 5-8 to 5-9 and 180 to 190 pounds, chiseled, built and fast.   I would like to thank Head Coach Germany, and wish all the kids from Capitol a great season in 2010.  I will have more on the team in the upcoming preview for late July that you can order off the website.

Notes:  I talked to Head Coach Germany and he said Terrance Broadway is up from 210 pounds in weight to 215 and has a chance to be the number two QB as a true freshman at the University of Houston.  Terrance was not offered by LSU, but at one time was headed to Alabama.

RB Frankie Jackson signed with Arkansas State on signing day over Memphis who he was committed to for several weeks.  I found out the reason he changed on signing day was because Arkansas State was the first school to ever offer him and he felt loyal to the coach who showed the most interest for the longest in Arkansas State.  Frankie turned down scholarships offers from Colorado and Utah.

Capitol high school went through spring with only two coaches.  They should have at least 4 in the fall.
